Sophomores Excel as Bentley Goes Wire-to-Wire for 95-65 Win over New York Tech

WALTHAM, Mass. – With a trio of sophomores combining for 51 points, the Bentley University Falcons went wire-to-wire for a 95-65 win over New York Tech in non-conference men's basketball at the Dana Center on Saturday afternoon.

Guard Mason Webb (Oklahoma City, Okla./Bishop McGuinness HS) topped the scoring list for Bentley with 21 points on seven-of-nine shooting overall and five-of-six from three. Brian Wright-Kinsey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooks School) followed with a career-high 18 and Adria Amabilino Perez (Barcelona, Spain) came off the bench to provide 12.

The sophomores accounted for half of the team's six double-figure scorers. Forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Northampton Williston School) and Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./The Hill School) each had 14 points and junior forward Pete Blust (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Catholic HS) finished with 13, along with five rebounds, three assists and a block.

Bentley, 4-1, scored the game's first six points and had a 16-4 lead after Stankiewicz sank one of his four three-balls with 14:21 left in the opening half. About a minute later, another Stankiewicz triple ignited a 10-0 burst that made it 26-8 with 11:45 remaining until the break.

In front 52-33 at the half, Bentley opened the second with an 18-3 run to nearly double the Bears, 70-36, with 13:35 remaining. New York Tech never got closer than 22 the rest of the way.

Bentley shot 53 percent as a team, sank 11 of 38 three-pointers and committed only five turnovers. On the other hand, the Bears lost the ball 17 times and shot only 39 percent, including 8 of 24 from three.

Hudson led the Falcons with eight rebounds and junior guard Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/ Thayer Academy) had half of his team's 22 assists.

For 0-7 New York Tech, both senior forward Jeffrey Hayden and six-eight senior Kyonis Owens scored ten points.

Bentley will open its Northeast-10 schedule on Tuesday with a 7:30 pm home game against Stonehill College.
