Bentley Returns to Northeast-10 Play Tuesday at Assumption

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a non-conference loss at Jefferson University Saturday, the Bentley University men's basketball will begin a stretch of six straight against Northeast-10 Conference opponents Tuesday night at Assumption College.

Links for video and live stats for the 7:30 pm game at Laska Gym can be found at www.bentleyfalcons.com.

Bentley, 3-1 overall and 1-0 NE10, opened with three straight home wins before coming up short at Jefferson, 76-71. Cold shooting from the field (.418, including an 0-for-8 start) hurt the Falcons in the first road game of the season, as did only seven free throws in 13 attempts.

Junior guard Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate) and sophomore guard Seth Stankiewicz (Reading, Pa./Hill School) led the Falcons against the Rams, scoring 22 and 21 points, respectively. Stankiewicz had his best game as a collegian, coming off the bench to drain six of nine from downtown.

Richmond leads the Falcons for the season, averaging 19.8 points, including 29 against Stonehill in the NE10 opener last week.

Also in double figures, between 11.5 and 13 ppg, are sophomore forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Williston Northampton School), freshman guard and two-time NE10 Rookie of the Week Jordan Mello-Klein (Sharon/Thayer Academy), Stankiewicz and junior forward Zach Gilpin (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy).

Assumption will be looking for its first win of the season after a 73-62 loss to Saint Anselm Saturday dropped the Greyhounds to 0-4 overall and 0-2 NE10. Turnovers plagued the Hounds in the four games as they committed an average of six more a game than their opponents, losing it 16 times per contest.

Assumption's top scorers have been sophomore Branislav Vujadinovic and freshman Matthew Kelly. Vujadinovic has made 11 of 20 three-pointers while building a 16.5 average. Kelly, through four games, has provided his team with 13 points and 2.5 assists a game.

Sophomore forward and Mohawk Valley Community College transfer Joe Sullivan has been a factor on the boards, averaging 8.8 a game, including 4.8 at the offensive end.

After the trip to Worcester and five games in 11 days, Bentley will be off until it hosts Franklin Pierce a week from Wednesday, Nov. 29.
