Hyland Named Northeast-10 Spalding Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. --- Bentley University graduate student and 2015 first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America® Keegan Hyland (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) has been selected as the Spalding Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference after helping the Falcons to a 2-0 week.

A six-foot-four guard, Hyland put up back-to-back double-doubles while averaging 21.5 points, 11 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He has 19 points, 12 rebounds and five helpers  in a 92-77 win against Franklin Pierce and 24 points and ten boards in a 76-53 victory at St. Michael's. Hyland shot 54 percent overall, 44 percent from three and 85 percent at the line.

Hyland, who has moved within 73 points of the 1,000-point plateau, has pushed his averages to 16.6 points, a team-best 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 0.8 steals. He's shooting 52 percent overall, including 64 percent inside the three-point line.

Hyland, a third-team All-Northeast-10 selection a year ago, has put up 20 or more in half of his team's ten games so far and has three double-doubles. Against conference opponents, he's averaging 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds with a .598 field goal percentage.

The Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included last week's Player of the Week, senior forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/Camden Hills HS). McFarland, who has moved into fifth on the program's all-time scoring list (1,668 points), leads Bentley and the NE-10 in scoring with his average standing at 24.8. He averaged 24.5 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists last week.

Bentley, in the midst of a lengthy exam and holiday break, leads the Northeast-10's Northeast Division with records of 6-0 NE-10 and 8-2 overall. The Falcons are back in action Dec. 30 against Molloy College.
