McFarland & Grassa Receive All-Northeast-10 Recognition

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore forward Tyler McFarland (Rockport, Maine/ Camden Hills HS) has been voted to the All-Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball second team, and teammate Jasper Grassa (Lynn/Lynn Classical HS) was also recognized with honorable-mention All-Conference status.

The six-foot-five McFarland has been one of the conference's top scorers and most accurate shooters throughout the season. His scoring average of 18.1, best by a Falcon forward since J.D. Asselta 18 years ago, ranks seventh in the conference, and he leads the NE-10 in three-point shooting (.494) and is second in free throw percentage (.875).

A member of the conference's All-Rookie team a year ago, McFarland also leads the Falcons in field goal percentage (.536) and rebounds (7.0), is second in blocks (20) and third in steals (23). He's the only Northeast-10 player shooting at least 50 percent overall, 40 percent from three (with at least one make a game) and 80 percent from the line.

McFarland, whose career scoring average of 16.8 ranks sixth in school history, has scored at least 22 ten times, with a high of 34 in the season-opener against Concordia, and has four double-doubles.

Grassa, who recently became Bentley's all-time leader in three-pointers (280), averages 14.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He's fourth in the conference in three-pointers (75) and is also in the top ten in minutes (888, 32.9 per game) and free throw percentage (.791).

Grassa, who had a career-high 35 points on 10-of-11 shooting earlier this season at Saint Anselm, is on the brink of cracking Bentley's top 25 in all-time scoring, with his total currently at 1,337. Over the last three seasons, he's started 80 consecutive games.

Bentley, 17-10 overall, will play at Saint Rose tonight in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Championships.
