Bentley Upset by Adelphi 2-1 in Northeast-10 Quarterfinals

WALTHAM, Mass. – A goal by Adelphi's Sydney Rossacci in the third quarter was the difference as the No. 6 seed Panthers upset the No. 3 seed Bentley 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Championship on Tuesday night.

Bentley took a 1-0 lead 9:09 into the game on a penalty stroke goal by Emily Crowell, who lifted her shot over the blocker of Panthers keeper Fiona Mannion for her third goal of the year.

The Falcons took that 1-0 lead into halftime.

Adelphi though was able to tie the game 6:31 into the third quarter when Amanda Lee notched her 13th of the season, off a tip-in from a pass by Ali Nagy from the top of the circle.

47 seconds before the end of the quarter Rossacci's goal put the visitors in front 2-1.

In the fourth quarter Bentley pushed hard for the tying goal. They had two shots on goal, both saved by Mannion.

A penalty corner awarded with 19 seconds left provided one last chance. Madison Halas took it and played it to Hannah Blomquist. An initial pass attempt by Blomquist was blocked but she regained possession and fed a centering pass to Gracie Moore, but her shot when just wide to the right.

Bentley's record fell to 12-7. They were ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA East Region rankings.
