Field Hockey Set to Tangle with Southern Conn St on Wednesday Night

WALTHAM, Mass. – Field hockey is back at home on Wednesday night to host Southern Connecticut as the regular season enters the final two weeks.

A look at the standings

With most teams having four games left in the regular season the NE10 standings are getting interesting. Assumption leads the way at 9-0 and has a two-game lead over 7-2 Saint Anselm. Bentley, Pace and Southern New Hampshire are tied for third with a 6-3 record.

After Wednesday's game, Bentley goes to Adelphi on Saturday. Then next week they host Franklin Pierce on Oct. 24 and Pace on Oct. 27 in the regular season finale.

The NE10 playoffs get underway on Halloween and the top-four teams in the standings host a quarterfinal game.

Trottie ranks highly

Junior goalie Mia Trottie ranks third nationally in Division II in both goals against average (0.80) and save percentage (.816). She is the only goalie in the NE10 with a GAA under 1.00.

Trottie was named the NFCHA Division II National Defensive Player of the Week and the NE10 Goalie of the Week on Oct. 11.

Big D

Bentley went 319 minutes without conceding a goal, which covered four full games and parts of two others. The streak came to an end against Southern New Hampshire on Oct. 11.

In nine NE10 games, Bentley has allowed just eight goals.

Series history

Bentley leads the all-time series 40-6-1 over the Owls. The first meeting was back in 1986.

Saturday's opponent, Adelphi, leads Bentley 12-8 in the series history.
