Field Hockey Travels to Saint Anselm and New Haven This Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Winners of two straight, Bentley will look to keep its winning ways going when they visit Saint Anselm on Wednesday night and New Haven on Saturday night.

 

Home field defended

Bentley went 2-0 last week with both wins coming on its home turf. On September 14 they defeated Assumption, the preseason favorite in the NE10, 3-2 in a non-conference game. The Falcons then beat Saint Thomas Aquinas 3-1 in the first NE10 game of the season on Sunday to improve to 3-1 at home.

 

Three for M. Halas

Graduate student Madison Halas had three goals in the two wins last week. She scored two against Assumption, including the game-winner early in the 4th quarter that broke a 2-2 tie. Halas also scored against the Spartans. Abigail Hewes had the first goal against Assumption and Libby Harrison and Meagan Hayes each scored against the Spartans.

 

Trottie ranks highly

Falcons goalie Mia Trottie leads the NE10 with a 1.00 goals against average. Her save percentage of .789 ranks fifth in the conference.

 

150 for Spencer

Falcons head coach Jess Spencer recorded her 150th career win at Bentley with the victory over the Greyhounds. A 1997 Bentley graduate, she is in her 16th season as head coach. She is one win away from 200 for her career overall.

 

Looking at the opponents

Saint Anselm is off to a 4-1 start and 1-0 in the NE10 after they won 3-1 at Adelphi in their last game. Senior Maddie Davis leads the squad with four goals and senior goalie Mackenzie McConnell has started all five games and has a 4-1 record on the season.

New Haven, which hosts St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday, is 1-4 so far and 1-1 in the NE10. They defeated Molloy 6-1 and lost 5-4 at Franklin Pierce for its conference games.  

Senior Kat Trammel leads the Chargers with three goals. The goalie duties have been split between seniors Hallie Reiger and Ally Saigh.
