3 Women’s Lacrosse & 2 Field Hockey Players Receive CSC Academic All-District Recognition

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Three members of the Bentley University women's lacrosse team and two members of the field hockey team were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Division II Women's At-Large Academic All-District team for their success on the playing field and in the classroom.

The women's lacrosse team was represented by juniors Caroline Affolter (Newburyport/Central Catholic HS) and  Emma Jadul (Reading/Reading HS), and sophomore Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS).

Representing field hockey were junior defender Emily Crowell (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee HS) and recent graduate Caroline Szatkowski (Reeders, Pa./Pocono Mountain East HS).

Affolter, Wargo and Jadul all helped the women's lacrosse team to another strong season that saw the team finish fourth in the competitive Northeast-10 and have a national ranking of 16th.

A midfielder, Affolter had an impressive all-around season with 27 goals, 67 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. Those numbers saw her named second team All-Conference and second team Division II All-East Region. She is majoring in finance, with a minor in computer information systems.

In her first season as the starting goalie, Wargo was twice named the IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week and the NE10 Goalie of the Week. She finished the season with a 10-6 record with 144 saves. She is majoring in marketing.

Jadul has been a three-year starter on defense for the Falcons. This season, she had 20 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. She is majoring in corporate finance and accounting, with a minor in computer information systems.

Crowell was selected for the All-Northeast-10 third team after a season in which she played almost every minute for the Falcons. She was on both penalty corner units and was the team's top choice to take a penalty stroke. Her only goal of the season came on a stroke against Adelphi. Crowell majors in economics-finance and has a minor in information design and corporate communication.

Szatkowski, one of the team's captains last fall, had four goals and three assists with her 11 points third best on the team. In 43 career games, she totaled six goals and had one game-winner. A public policy major, Szatkowski graduated Cum Laude last weekend.

All five will move on to the national ballot for CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America consideration.
