Blomquist Goal Not Enough as Bentley Falls to Saint Anselm, 2-1

WALTHAM, Mass. – Despite a fourth-quarter goal by sophomore Hannah Blomquist (Westwood/Westwood HS) and six second-half saves by classmate Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS), the Bentley University Falcons fell to 10th-ranked Saint Anselm College, 2-1, in Northeasy-10 Conference field hockey Wednesday night on the Bentley Field Hockey Field.

Amanda Lewandowski (Franklin), also a sophomore, scored twice during the second quarter to lead Saint Anselm (5-4, 4-1 NE10). The first came with 11:21 left until halftime and the second with 6:48 remaining before the break.

Blomquist cut the Falcon deficit in half when she tallied her second of the season with 9:16 left in the fourth. On a penalty corner, junior Emily Crowell (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee HS) put the ball in play, senior Madison Halas (Danbury, Conn./Immactulate HS) sent it over to Blomquist, who drove it into the cage from just inside the circle.

Trottie, who took over as Bentley's goalie at the start of the third quarter, played a scoreless second half for the Falcons.

Saint Anselm outshot the home team, 11-8, but Bentley had the edge in corners (8-6).

Bentley (5-6, 3-3 NE10) will remain at home to host Adelphi University Saturday at 2 pm. That afternoon, the Falcons will hold their Pink Day game and will also recognize Allyson Bunce '02 for her selection into the Northeast-10 Hall of Fame.
