Simione Earns All-America Honors from NFHCA & Synapse Sports

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University graduate student Sam Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS) has been selected as a second-team Division II All-America by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Simione was also recognized as a first-team Division II All-America by Synapse Sports.

In addition, the Synapse Sports Division II All-Rookie Team included Bentley freshman Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School).

Simione, one of the team's captains, led the 2021 Falcons to a 14-6 season and the program's first NCAA Division II championship berth since 2012. The first-team All-Northeast-10 honoree scored five times this past season and amassed seven defensive saves, second most nationally among Division II players.

Simione, in 73 career games, finished with 13 goals, 10 assists, 36 points, two game-winners and 14 defensive saves.

"Sam has been a huge part of our success over the past five years," said Coach Jessica Spencer.  "The coaching staff and her teammates are so thrilled to see her honored in this way."

Coco, a third-team All-Northeast-10 selection, had three game-winners and matched Simione's offensive output with five goals and two assists for 12 points. That tied for third on the team in both goals and points.
