5 Bentley Field Hockey Players Receive All-Conference Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Five members of the Bentley University field hockey team, including graduate student Sam Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS), have been selected for All-Northeast Conference honors.

Simione was voted to the first team and junior Ava Bevilacqua (Dedham/Notre Dame Academy) received second-team accolades. Freshman Lida Coco (Litchfield, Conn./Canterbury School) and senior Meghan Moran (North Andover/North Andover HS) were chosen for the third team, and the All-Rookie Team included Coco and sophomore Emily Crowell (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee HS).

Simione, who was a third-team honoree in 2019, has scored five times this fall and leads Division II nationally with seven defensive saves. The three-year starter had her second career game-winning goal and has amassed 13 goals, 10 assists, 36 points and 14 defensive saves in 72 career games.

Bevilacqua, who was kept off the scoreboard as a freshman in 2019, leads this year's team in scoring with ten goals and 23 points. In the team's last ten games, she's put the ball into the cage seven times.

Coco has given the Falcons five goals and two assists in 19 games off the bench. She led the team in game-winners with three.

The contributions of Moran, a midfielder/defender, don't show up on the stat sheet but they play a significant role in the team's transition game and defensive success. She has started every game this season after coming off the bench during her first two seasons.

Crowell has been a key contributor to a defense that allowed only 1.2 goals a game. She also scored her first career goal on a penalty stroke.

Bentley, 14-5 and ranked eighth in Division II after being upended in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Championships, will wait for Monday's announcement of the NCAA Division II championship field to see if its season will continue.
