4 Different Players Score as No. 10 Bentley Blanks Molloy, 4-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior captain Christine Murray (Walpole/Walpole HS) and junior Ava Bevilacqua (Dedham/Notre Dame Acad.) each had a goal and an assist as Bentley University extended its winning streak to seven with a 4-0 shutout of Molloy College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey Sunday afternoon on the Bentley Turf Field.

Sporting its longest win streak since one of the same length in 2012, Bentley reached the 12-win mark for the first time since 2009. The tenth-ranked team in Division II improved to 12-4 overall and 10-2 conference, with two regular season games remaining on the schedule.

Senior Kate Slowe (Millis/Millis HS) netted what proved to be the game-winner for the Falcons with her third goal of the season coming with 10:15 left in the first, off a Murray assist.

Four minutes into the second, freshman Meagan Hayes (Salem, N.H./Lawrence Academy) scored her first as a collegian, making it a 2-0 game.

The remaining two goals were scored in the first six minutes of the third quarter, Murray with 13:12 on the clock and Bevilacqua a little more than four minutes later.

Most of the game was played in front of the Lions cage with Bentley peppering the net with 35 shots and being awarded 14 penalty corners. In sharp contrast, Molloy (0-13, 0-11 NE10) had only one shot and one corner.

Sophomore Ally Saigh (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) was busy for Molloy, making 14 saves. Neither Bentley netminder, junior Madison Clark (Natick/Natick HS) or freshman Mia Trottie (Cinnaminson, N.J./Bishop Eustace HS), made a stop.

Bentley's penultimate game of the regular season is Tuesday afternoon at St. Michael's College.
