Hewes, Pearson Named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University rising seniors Abigail Hewes (Denmark, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) and Britney Pearson (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) were recently named Division II Scholars of Distinction by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

The Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2020-21 academic year.

Hewes and Pearson both continued their success in the classroom during the spring semester.

At Fryeburg, Hewes earned Maine All-State honors in field hockey as a junior and a senior. She was a six-season team captain, including field hockey twice and lacrosse three times.

Pearson, as a senior at Bishop Guertin, was the field hockey team captain and MVP in 2019. She also lettered in ice hockey and equestrian for the Cardinals.

Bentley's 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic, but thr Falcons did get in a couple scrimmages this past spring.
