Bentley Places 19 on NFHCA National Academic Squad

WALTHAM, Mass. – Nineteen members of the 2020 Bentley University field hockey team have been named to the NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, including three who were recognized for the fourth straight year.

They were senior captains Sam D'Aquila (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS), Dimitra Efremidis (North Easton/North Easton HS) and goalkeeper Tatiana Naclerio (Easton, Conn./Easton HS).

The Division II National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher through the fall semester.

Four juniors received National Academic Squad recognition for the third time with the list consisting of Erin McCool (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS), Katelyn McGuigan (Nesconset, N.Y./ Smithtown East HS), Meghan Moran (North Andover/North Andover HS) and Christine Murray (Westwood/Walpole HS).

Earning the honor for the second time were senior Sam Simione (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire HS), junior Kate Slow (Medfield/Medfield HS) and junior Kayleigh Vogel (Greenland, N.H./Portsmouth HS)

There were also nine Falcons who made their inaugural appearance on the National Academic Squad. They are freshmen Emily Crowell (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee HS), Tara Donohue (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville HS), Stephanie Drapas (Cazenovia, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius HS), Abigail Hewes (Denmark, Maine/Fryeburg Academy), Amy Pasquale (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack HS), Brittany Pearson (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) and Katie Thies (Liverpool. N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse HS), along with senior Courtney Worokka (Windham, N.H./Central Catholic HS) and junior Olivia Deschenes (Naples Fla./Lake Region HS).

Coach Jessica Spencer's team was also recognized with a NFHCA Division II National Academic Team Award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester.

The Falcons' 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID.
