On This Day, 2018: Anderson Hat Trick Leads Bentley Past Southern Connecticut, 5-2

On September 14, 2018, junior forward Tess Anderson posted a hat trick and took over the Northeast-10 Conference scoring lead as Bentley field hockey extended its winning streak to three with a 5-2 conference win over Southern Connecticut State.

Anderson's big day boosted her season totals to seven goals and 15 points in only five games. She tied the game up at 1-1 with 15:12 left in the first half, gave Bentley a 3-1 lead when she knocked in a deflection 81 seconds into the second half and completed the game's scoring with 10:40 to play, off an assist from junior Keally Ingersoll.

Sophomore back Sam Simione was involved in Bentley's first two goals, assisting on Anderson's first before giving the Falcons a 2-1 lead with 6:06 left in the opening half on a penalty corner. She drove the ball into the cage from the top of the arc, with senior forward Rachel Crowley providing the assist.

The other goal scorer for Bentley (4-1) was junior Christa Knell, her first of the season coming with 20:27 left in the second half from close range after a rebound.

Senior Jana Mones earned the win in net for the Falcons after making four saves.
