Ellis Named 2nd-Team Division II All-America by Synapse Sports; Pavano Receives All-Rookie Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior midfielder and field hockey tri-captain Tori Ellis (Madison, N.J./Madison HS) was named to the Division II All-America second team by synapsesports.com, a website that covers the sport.

Synapse Sports also recognized Bentley freshman Sam Pavano (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) with Division II All-Rookie accolades.

The two were previously honored by the Northeast-10 Conference with Ellis receiving first-team All-Conference honors and Pavano selected for the All-Rookie Team.

Ellis was second on the team in scoring, a point back of Pavano, with six goals and three assists for 15 points. Three of her goals were game-winners and she led the Falcons in defensive saves with three.

A starter in 62 of 73 career games and three-time All-Conference selection, Ellis finished her career with 11 goals, 15 assists, 37 points, six game-winners and 23 defensive saves, the most by any active Division II player.

Pavano's 16 points was tied for the fourth most by a Division II freshman nationally during the 2016 season. She had the only goal in a 1-0 win over Franklin Pierce Oct. 22 and two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win over Southern Connecticut Sept. 21.

Bentley finished the 2016 season with records of 7-11 overall and 5-7 NE10.
