Bio

A longtime coach at numerous levels, including 13 years in the NFL, Ty Knott is in his first season as offensive coordinator at Bentley. He came to Waltham after serving as the head sprint football coach at Saint Mary of the Woods College in 2021.

Knott spent time in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers (2009-10, Director of Player Development/Offensive Assistant Coach), the Green Bay Packers (2006-08, Offensive Quality Control Coach), the New Orleans Saints (2003-05, Defensive Assistant Coach, Defensive Quality Control Coach) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (2002, Offensive Quality Control Coach). He was also part of the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship with Washington, Detroit, Minnesota and Miami.

Knott coached in the XFL in both 2018 (Memphis Express, Special Teams Coordinator/Running Back Coach) and 2019 (Los Angeles Wildcats, Assistant Head Coach/Tight End Coach). The Wildcats ranked second in the XFL in offense and the Express were number one in punt ranking.

His coaching career has also included time at Minnesota-Crookston and Texas Southern University, as well as high schools in Texas and Wisconsin.

Highlights of Knott’s career coaching six Pro Bowl players from 2002-10 and four 1,000-yard receivers from 2006-10. In 2007, the Packers reached the NFC championship game. Texas Southern led FCS in total defense in 2011.

Knott received his Bachelor of Science in social studies from Southern Oregon University in 1992 and his Master of Science in applied health science from Indiana University in 2000. He is the founder and owner of Why Knott Dream Big Foundation, a non-profit that helps families that have kids with special needs.
