Eleven Falcons earn All-NE10, including the MVP

WALTHAM, Mass. – Eleven members of the Bentley football team combined for 12 All-Northeast-10 honors, including the NE10 Most Valuable Player, the conference announced Thursday.

Graduate student linebacker Sal Lupoli, Jr. was named the conference MVP after leading the nation in tackles per game (12.3). He also led the NE10 in tackles-for-a-loss, tied the Bentley record for tackles in a season (123), and became the school's all-time leading tackler (337). Click HERE for more about Lupoli.

Joining Lupoli on the All-NE10 Defensive First Team was Tajon Vassar, Mathieu Severance, Herve Tshibamba, and Zachary Goodwin.

Bentley's defense led the NE10 in fewest yards allowed per game with 232.7. The team's 13.8 points allowed per game ranked second in the conference. In all of NCAA D-II, Bentley ranked sixth in total defense and ninth in scoring defense by the end of the regular season.

Vassar became the first Falcon in the NE10 era to earn All-Conference at two different positions in the same season. He was named to the First Team as a corner back, where he tied for the conference lead in interceptions with five. Vassar was also named to the Second Team as a kick returner. His average of 33.5 yards per kickoff return led NCAA D-II, and he returned two kicks for a touchdown in 2023. Vassar was twice named the NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week in 2023.

Vassar was not the only Falcon with a special teams nod. Kicker Mason Campbell was named to the All-NE10 First Team after leading the conference in made field goals (15). Campbell broke his own school record for longest field goal by connecting on a 49-yard try in the second week of the season (Sept. 9). Campbell also tied a school record with four makes in a game at American International (Oct. 21). Campbell earned three NE10 Special Teams Player of the Week honors this season.

Offensively, Mark Waid, Vinnie Holmes, Abel Lopes, Jr., and Joe LoChiatto were named to the All-NE10 First Team. Waid was the conference's second leading passer with 160.6 yards per game, and he was the fourth-leading rusher with 79.1 yards per game. Waid was twice named the NE10 Offensive Player of the Week this fall. He had a five-touchdown game (3 passing, 2 rushing) at American International (Oct. 21). Two weeks later at home against Assumption, Waid threw for a season-high 261 yards and three touchdowns (Nov. 4).

Holmes ended the season as the conference's second-leading rusher with an average of 94.0 yards per game. He reached the 100-yard mark on the ground three times in 2023, including a 260-yard game at Post (Sept. 16) that stands as the third-most rushing yards in a game in school history.

After an uneventful first two games of the season, Lopes kicked it into gear for NE10 games. In conference play, Lopes averaged 58.6 receiving yards per game, with an average of 4.5 catches per game. He lit up Assumption in the home finale (Nov. 4), totaling 127 yard on six catches and two touchdowns.

Finally, Rashon Bradford made the All-NE10 Second Team for offense. The wide receiver had five touchdown catches against NE10 opponents, including a two-score game against American International (Oct. 21).
