Four Bentley Falcons Named to the Hampshire Honor Society

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four former Bentley University football players have been named to the 2022 Hampshire Honor Society by the National Football Foundation for their success in the classroom during their collegiate careers.

They were graduate students Andrew Brazicki (Franklin Park, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) and Cole McCubrey (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and seniors Stephen Sturm (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) and Edgar Semedo (New Bedford/New Bedford HS).

Requirements for earning Hampshire Honor Society recognition include achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, completing their eligibility during the 2021 season and being a starter or important reserve.

Brazicki, the recipient of the Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Award for football and a CoSIDA Academic All-America for the second time, led Bentley in rushing for the fourth straight year with 724 yards and was the Falcons' top scorer with nine touchdowns. His 2,276 career rushing yards was third best in Bentley history.

McCubrey, a graduate transfer from UMass, had a standout season in his only year with the Falcons. He was a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year and was the recipient of the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Joe Zabilski award for defense.

Sturm, the All-Northeast-10 first team quarterback, finished his career with 7,186 passing yards, 58 touchdowns and a .603 completion percentage. This past season, he threw for 1,889 yards and 23 touchdowns. He threw at least one TD pass in every game this season, including two games with four (Southern Connecticut, Assumption).

Semedo, a defensive back, appeared every game last fall and finished with 35 tackles and one fumble recovery. Included was a career-best ten stops Nov. 13 against Assumption.

Brazicki is working on his MBA and McCubrey is pursuing his master's in finance. Sturm majored in marking and Semedo has majored in data analytics and business majors.

Bentley finished the 2021 season with a 9-2 record and earned its first NCAA Division II postseason berth since 2004.
