Bentley's Super Region 1 honorees

McCubrey & Dashiell II Voted to D2CCA All-Super Region 1 1st Team; Leonard Also Honored

WALTHAM, Mass. – Linebacker Cole McCubrey (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) and defensive end Cedie Dashiell II (Buena Park, Calif./Buena Park HS) have been voted to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Super Region 1 first team by the region's sports information directors.

Also recognized, with second-team honors, was senior offensive lineman Tim Leonard (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven HS).

McCubrey, the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year, and Dashiell II, the NE10 Defensive Lineman of the Year, will both advance to the national ballot for D2CCA All-America consideration. Both were previously named to the All-Northeast-10 first team and the New England Football Writers Division II-III All-New England team.

McCubrey, a graduate student who transferred to Bentley following four years at Massachusetts, had a conference-best 114 tackles, including a career-best 17 against New Haven in the NCAA Division II first round playoff game, and finished third in the NE10 in average tackles. Nationally, he ranks sixth in Division II in total tackles, tenth in average tackles and 11th in forced fumbles.

The leading tackler for UMass in 2019 and 2020, McCubrey finished his career with 279 tackles and seven forced fumbles in 50 career games. He's also a standout in the classroom and is a candidate for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

Dashiell II, one of the Falcons' captains, ranks 11th in Division II in forced fumbles as well as 16th in sacks and 23rd in fumble recoveries. He has had at least one sack in 13 of his last 15 regular season games and finished this season with 55 tackles, 12 for losses of 90 yards, ten sacks, seven quarterback hurries, four forced fumbles, five pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.

In three Bentley seasons, Dashiell II amassed 122 tackles, 31.5 tackles for losses, 20 sacks, seven forced fumbles and three forced fumbles.

Leonard, also a team captain, was selected first-team All-Northeast-10 after earning second-team honors last season. He appeared in 35 games during his career and was a key factor in the Falcons' offensive success which included 30.3 points, 198.4 rushing yards and 372.3 yards total offense per game. Bentley converted 42 percent of first downs and was 14th in Division II in fewest sacks allowed.

Bentley, which finished 9-2 and made its first NCAA playoff appearance since 2004, was one of only six schools to have at least three players earn All-Super Region honors.
