WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University standouts Cedie Dashiell II (Buena Park, Calif./Buena Park HS) and Cole McCubrey (Boylston/Tahanto Reg. HS) have been selected for the 2021 New England Football Writers Division II-III All New England team.

The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 9, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. Dashiell II, a second-time honoree, and McCubrey, a graduate student, helped lead Bentley to a 9-2 record and the program's first NCAA Division II playoff berth since 2004. The Falcon defense was among the best in the Northeast-10, ranking in the top three in most categories, including first in takeaways with 27.

A senior defensive end, Dashiell II was recognized as the Northeast-10 Defensive Lineman of the Year. The two-time first-team All-NE10 selection totaled 55 tackles, ten sacks, 13 tackles for losses, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries this season.

During his three Bentley seasons, Dashiell II was in on 122 stops and amassed 20 sacks, 31.5 TFL, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

McCubrey, a linebacker who transferred to Bentley after four years at UMass, was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year in the Northeast-10. He led the conference in total tackles with 114, and also had four forced fumbled, two interceptions and two touchdowns (one pick-six, one on a pass reception).

McCubrey previously led UMass in tackles in both 2019 and 2020.
