On This Day, 2004: Eddy Surpasses 10,000 Yards During Bentley’s 62-3 Win over Saint Anselm

On October 23, 2004, Bentley senior Marc Eddy became only the third quarterback in New England history to reach 10,000 career passing yards as the Falcons used a 48-point first-half to blast Saint Anselm 62-3 up in Manchester, N.H.

Eddy, who would finish his brilliant career with 11,035 yards, joined two former Boston College quarterbacks in the New England 10,000 yard club, Doug Flutie and Glenn Foley. Against the Hawks, he completed 23 of 36 for 414 yards and six touchdowns.

Remarkably, all six of his TD passes came before halftime as he threw four during a 28-point opening quarter and two more as Bentley added to its total with 20 points in the second stanza. By the time the two clubs headed to the locker room at the half, the score stood at 48-3.

As usual, classmate Dallas Mall was his favorite target as the NCAA record holder in career TD receptions. He was on the receiving end of three of Eddy's TD passes (29-24-21) and also pulled in one from Joe Burgoyne in the third quarter. Overall, he caught eight balls for 142 yards.

Junior Kristopher Lake also had a productive afternoon with two touchdowns (15, 38 yards), and sophomore Greg Feroli was on the receiving end of a 40-yard scoring strike.

Bentley set two school records in the victory, 626 yards total offense (since broken) and seven interceptions. Six different players picked off passes with senior Anthony Seaforth grabbing a pair.

With the win, the Falcons improved to 7-1 on the season.
