Tyler Ford named an All-America

Ford Selected for 2016 D2CCA All-America Football Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior punter Tyler Ford (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS) has been chosen for the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's  Association All-America first team by the nation's sports information directors.

Ford had a standout year for the Falcons with his school and Northeast-10 Conference 45.3  yard average second best nationally in Division II and 11th amongst all NCAA punters, regardless of division. He had 20 kicks of 50 or more, including at least one of 60 yards or more in six different games, and dropped 13 inside the 20.

Ford broke the Bentley single season mark each of the last three seasons, as well as the conference record twice, and finished with a career average of 41.8 yards, best in Falcon and NE-10 history. He bettered the school single game punting record several times, including a 55.6 on five punts against Stonehill Nov. 12 in his final collegiate game.

The All-America award is the latest earned by Ford in recent weeks. The Falcon captain was previously honored as first-team All-Northeast-10 for the second straight year, first-team Division II-III New England All-Star by the New England Football Writers and D2CCA All-Super Region 1.

Ford is Bentley's first All-America since Matt Zahoruiko was chosen to the Football Gazette's Division II second team in 2008. The program's last first-teamers were offensive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau (AFCA, AP Little All-America, d2football.com) and defensive back Paul Tetzel (Football Gazette) a year earlier.
