Ford an Honorable Mention Selection for Don Hansen All-America Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – After a record-breaking season, Bentley University junior punter Tyler Ford (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan HS) was among the honorable mention selections for the 2015 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team, which was announced today.

It's the latest in a series of postseason accolades for Ford. He was chosen first-team All-Northeast-10, was named to the New England Football Writers Division II-III All-New England team and was a second-team All-East Region selection by both Don Hansen and the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association.

Ford finished fifth nationally in punting average, averaging a school- and Northeast-10 record 43.0 yards. That bettered the school record of 39.9 he put up as a sophomore in 2014. Ford put 24 of his 56 punts inside the 20, had 15 punts of at least 50 yards, and twice tied the school record for longest punt (68).

Ford will enter his senior year with a career average of 40.3 points, a Bentley record and ninth amongst active Division II players.

Bentley finished the 2015 season with a 5-6 record.

The Don Hansen Division II All-America Team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

The Don Hansen Football Committee selected All-Super Region teams following the season, with the first-team and second-team All-Super Region players advancing to the national ballot.
