It's getting so you need a crystal ball to figure out the ever-tightening Northeast-10 Conference.

Bentley has suddenly injected itself in the thick of the league title conversation after a three-game winning streak. On Saturday, the Falcons (4-3, 4-2 NE-10) defeated American International, 10-6, in Waltham. Senior linebacker Matt McDermott (Central Catholic) recorded two sacks and junior safety Sam McDonald (Norfolk/King Philip) had a late interception. Since allowing 41 points to Merrimack on Sept, 26, the Falcons defense has surrendered a total of 33.

Boston Globe West, Oct. 18, 2015 -- Catching up with Eric Lazzari

As a freshman lineman at Bentley University in 1994, Eric Lazzari won the football team's belly flop contest at the Dana Athletic Center pool, finishing off his opponents with a reverse flip.

"We had a pool with a diving board in our backyard in Natick, and I was in it all the time growing up,'' recalled Lazzari, who was a captain of the football team at Marian High in Framingham. He also played baseball and was a member of the Catholic school's golf and track teams.

Worcester Telegram, Oct. 18, 2015 -- Marc Eddy was a quarterback for the ages

 In recent years, Central Mass. football has seen many great quarterbacks from St. John's Drew Smiley, Quabbin's Dylan Kierman, and the Northbridge duo ofDan Brown and today's Koby Schofer.

However, when it comes to high school quarterbacks, the name that always seems to be at the top of the charts when it comes to the record books is Algonquin'sMarc Eddy.

It was 15 years ago when Eddy concluded his four-year high school career with the Tomahawks, throwing for a Central Mass.-record 6,197 yards and 76 touchdowns from 1997-2000.
