Hill Named 2nd-Team All-America by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette

WALTHAM, Mass. – Jeff Hill (Mansfield/Mansfield HS), the premier receiver in the Northeast-10 Conference during the 2014 season, has been selected as a Don Hansen's Football Gazette Division II second-team All-America.

Hill averaged 16.4 yards per reception during his senior year while leading the conference in receiving yards (1,113), yards per game (101.2) and touchdown catches (12). The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder had five 100-yard games, with a high of 163 Nov. 15 at Merrimack, and had at least one TD catch in nine of the final ten games.

In the final NCAA Division II statistics, Hill was 12th in TD catches, 14th in receiving yards per game and 18th in receiving yards. It marked the third consecutive season that he ranked in the top 15 nationally in receiving yards per game.

Hill finished his standout career with 200 catches for 3,489 yards and 37 yards, numbers that rank among the top six among all Division II players active during the 2014 season. Taking into consideration all divisions, he finished the 2014 tied for ninth amongst active players in career TD catches.

Previous honors for Hill, one of the top three receivers in Bentley history, included two-time New England Football Writers Division II-III All-New England and three-time first-team All-Northeast-10.   

Bentley won four of its final five games in 2014 to finish with a 5-6 record.

The Don Hansen Division II All-America Team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
