Boerman Named Recipient of 2013 Murray Lewis Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University football coach Thom Boerman has been named the 2013 recipient of the Murray Lewis Award, which is presented annually by the Boston Chapter of the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials to recognize a person's positive contributions to New England College football.

Boerman will receive his award Monday night, Nov. 11, during a dinner at Lombardo's in Randolph. Ticket information is available by contacting Fred Gardner at 978-531-5185.

Boerman, a Maynard resident, is in his fifth year as Bentley's head coach after a 24-year tenure as an assistant with the Falcons. His career record stands at 32-16, including 5-4 thus far this season. In his first year at the helm, he was recognized as the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year.

Boerman's teams are traditionally among the leaders in Division II in fewest penalties committed. The Falcons were second in fewest penalties in 2009 and are currently 20th, committing less than five a game.

This Saturday, Boerman and the Falcons will be at New Haven for a 12 noon game.
