Velasquez Named Assistant Football Coach

WALTHAM, Mass. – Rob Velasquez, a 2006 graduate of Endicott College, has been named an assistant football coach at Bentley University, head coach Thom Boerman announced. Velasquez will coach the offensive line and also serve as the Falcons' Recruiting Coordinator.

Velasquez has spent the past four years as an assistant coach at Tufts University. He was the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2011 season after working with the defensive line the previous three. He was also the Jumbos' Director of Football Operations from 2008-2011.

Velasquez' resume also includes working as the offensive line coach at Buckingham, Browne and Nichols for two years, offensive coordinator for the Carrickfergus American Football Club in Northern Ireland during the summer of 2006, and offensive line coach for the United States All-Star Football Team in Belfast that same summer.

At Endicott, Velasquez played on the Gulls' first four varsity football teams, serving as a four-year captain and center. He also played a season in Ireland before launching his coaching career.

A Colorado native and former captain at Laconia (N.H.) High School, Velasquez received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Endicott in 2006 and his Masters of Education in Educational Studies at Tufts. He currently resides in South Boston.
