Johnson Named Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – The final week of his collegiate football playing career saw Bentley University graduate student and quarterback Bryant Johnson (Hopedale/Milford HS) earn Offensive Player of the Week honors in the Northeast-10, the conference announced Monday afternoon. It's the second time this season he's received the accolade.

Johnson threw for three touchdowns and ran for another while amassing 355 yards of total offense as Bentley closed out the season with a 41-26 win over Assumption College Saturday. He finished 20 of 29 for 295 yards through the air and also ran for 60 yards on 11 carries.

Johnson, with his big effort against the Greyhounds, eclipsed 8,000 yards in career total offense, moving into second place of Bentley's all-time list at 8,189, and broke his own school record for single season completion percentage by just four-thousandths of a point. This year's final mark of .6590 was just slightly better than the .6586 he posted a year ago when he was the MVP of the Northeast-10.

Johnson currently ranks 11th in Division II in passing efficiency, tied for 11th in points responsible for and 21st in total offense.

This week's Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included senior running back Bobby Tarr (Byfield/Bishop Fenwick HS), who posted his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season. He ran for 132 yards on only 13 carries against the Hounds, including a 76-yarder, and is currently number three in the conference in rushing, averaging 86 yards per game.

Bentley finished the season with a 6-4 record.
