Falcons begin seven-game road stretch at Assumption Tuesday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley baseball team aims to continue its recent momentum when the Falcons travel to Worcester for a Northeast-10 doubleheader at Assumption Tuesday, April 16, starting at 12 p.m. Bentley continues its road stretch at Southern Connecticut (April 20) and New Haven (April 21) this weekend.

Righting the ship

The Falcons snapped a five-game losing streak by winning three out of four NE10 games at home this past weekend. They won both ends of a doubleheader against Pace (April 13), and split a doubleheader against Adelphi the following day (April 14). The Falcons are 19-12 overall, and their 5-6 NE10 record is good for third place in the Northeast Division.

Heber on a heater

Pat Heber took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against Pace (April 13), but the historic bid was broken up by an infield single with one out in the eighth. Heber has pitched at least 7.0 innings in each of his last two starts, allowing only five earned runs on seven hits during that  stretch (14.2 IP).

Sencaj sends seventh

Freshman Brendan Sencaj belted his seventh home run of the season against Adelphi (April 13). The three-run homer put him in a tie for third place in the NE10 home run race.

Eddy better

Eddy Beauregard collected three hits and drew four walks during Bentley's weekend homestand. One of those hits as a home run against Adelphi (April 13) – his third home run of the season.

Steve rizzin'

Steve Rizzuto has an eight-game hitting streak entering this week's slate of games, carrying a .440 batting average during that stretch. His 34 RBI leads the team, and it ranks as the second-best total in the NE10.

On and on

Cory Bright's .543 on-base percentage leads the NE10, and Tim Zupkus ranks third with a .503 mark. Zupkus' 33 walks paces the conference. As a team, Bentley has a conference-best .412 on-base percentage.

Jayden from the 'pen

Jayden Longdin earned a two-inning save against Pace (April 13), and he is becoming a reliable arm out of the bullpen. Through his last four appearances (7.1 IP), Longdin has a 2.45 ERA.

Scouting Assumption (10-19, 4-7 NE10)

The Greyhounds recently won both ends of a doubleheader against Pace (April 14) after losing both ends of a doubleheader against Adelphi (April 13). Matthew Holdbrook is the team's leading hitter with a .342 batting average, and Cody Smith has a team-high five home runs. Owen Podolec has a team-leading 10 stolen bases. Kyle Keating has worked a team-high 35.0 innings on the mound, and he holds a 3.34 ERA.

Scouting Southern Connecticut (20-15, 8-8 NE10)

The Owls have won five of their last seven games entering this week. They recently won both ends of a doubleheader at St. Michael's (April 15). Izaiah Walker has 34 RBI this season, which matches Steve Rizzuto's total. Mike Talavera's 23 stolen bases rank second in the NE10. The pitching staff's 8.91 strikeouts per nine innings is second in the conference, and the 5.34 ERA ranks fourth. Mike Szturma has 51 strikeouts in 49.2 IP, and Keegan Daigle's 3.38 ERA is the best among the team's starters.

Scouting New Haven (17-17, 9-7 NE10)
