WALTHAM, Mass. – After an outstanding weekend in his Bentley University debut, sophomore shortstop Stan DeMartinis III (Boca Raton, Fla./American Heritage HS) has been named the NCBWA Division II East Region Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

DeMartinis III powered the Falcons to a 3-1 record in a four-game series with Assumption by homering four times and putting up a slash line of .417.588/1.417. Among his round trippers was an sixth-inning shot that broke an 11-11 deadlock and gave Bentley the win in game one of a Saturday doubleheader.

DeMartinis III, the Northeast-10 Player of the Week, finished the weekend with eight RBI, six runs scored and 17 RBI.

Although the season is young, DeMartinis III leads Division II in home runs per game and slugging percentage.

Weather permitting, Bentley is scheduled to play a non-conference doubleheader against St. Michael's College Sunday at Xaverian Brothers High School.
