3 Homers Not Enough as Bentley Falls to Franklin Pierce, 10-6

RINDGE, N.H. – Three Bentley University home runs weren't enough as the Falcons lost to Franklin Pierce University, 10-6, in Northeast-10 Conference baseball Sunday afternoon at Pappas Field.

Going deep for the Falcons were graduate center fielder Kyle Halloran (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS), junior right fielder Tim Zupkus (Middlebury, Conn./Holy Cross HS) and junior first baseman Eddy Beauregard (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett Reg. HS).

It was the third for Beauregard, the second for Zupkus and the first for Halloran.

Halloran led off the game by clearing the right center field fence. After a walk, Zupkus made it a 3-0 game with his home run going to left.

Bentley (5-14, 0-4 NE10) made it a 4-2 game in the fourth on an RBI double by sophomore second baseman Tyler Gonzalez (Windham, N.H./Lawrence Academy).

Franklin Pierce, which won its eighth straight, erupted for five runs in the fourth, taking a lead it would not give up. The Ravens had five hits in the inning, including a two-run single by sophomore designated hitter Hunter Wilichosk (Hamilton, Mass.), and the final three runs were unearned due to a pair of Falcon errors.

Halloran had two hits for Bentley, which was outhit 11-7.

For Franklin Pierce (13-5, 4-0 NE10), sophomore left fielder Ryan Lavelle (East Longmeadow, Mass.) had three hits, including a homer, and graduate third baseman Charles Lebron (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a two-run homer.

After 19 games away from Waltham, Bentley will play its home opener Friday against Saint Anselm in the start of a four-game weekend series.
