Beauregard & Brooks Lead Bentley to 12-7 Win over Post

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Junior first baseman Eddy Beauregard (Paxton/Wachusett Reg. HS) drove in four runs, including three with a seventh inning home run, and graduate lefty Jared Brooks (Hollis Center, Maine/Cheverus HS) struck out ten as Bentley University posted a 12-7 win over Post University in non-conference baseball at the Santaluces Athletic Complex Thursday.

Post was in front 3-2 following six innings when it went to its bullpen. The Falcons scored ten off the Eagles' relievers, including three in the seventh to regain the lead.

Graduate center fielder Kyle Halloran (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS) was hit by a pitch and junior shortstop Joe Boushell (Mansfield, Mass./Wheeler School) reached on an error. Two batters later, Beauregard made those mistakes hurt as he lined the ball over the left field fence for a three-run homer and a 5-3 Falcon lead. His second homer of the season gave him 17 RBI.

Coach Bob DeFelice's Falcons broke the game open with seven runs in the next inning. Junior third baseman Steve Rizzuto (Belmont, Mass./Belmont HS) had an RBI single, Halloran had a two-run double to left, Boushell singled in a run, Beauregard scored on a wild pitch and senior left fielder Liam Sears (Springfield, Mass./Pope Francis HS) drove in two with a single to center.

After Post (4-13) scored four unearned runs in the eighth, senior Brandon Ostiguy (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia HS) came in to get the final four outs for Bentley.

Bentley's 17-hit attack included three by Beauregard and two apiece from freshman shortstop Alex Bodnar (North Andover, Mass./Brooks School), junior right fielder Tim Zupkus (Middlebury, Conn./Holy Cross HS), sophomore second baseman Jackson Walonis (Walpole, Mass./Walpole HS), Sears and junior catcher Brian Lindsay (New Durham, N.H./Kingswood Reg. HS).

Brooks improved to 3-0 after allowing seven hits, three runs and three walks in his seven innings of work.

Post was led by junior third baseman Nate Miller (Morris Plains, N.J.), with three hits and two RBI.

Bentley wraps up its Florida schedule Friday at 2 pm against Southern Connecticut State. That game will also be played at the Santaluces Athletic Complex.
