St. Cloud State Runs to 7-2 Win over Bentley

SANFORD, Fla. -- Junior second baseman Sam Riola (Ada, Mich.) reached base five times and had five of his team's ten stolen bases as St. Cloud State ran to a 7-2 win over Bentley University in non-conference college baseball Friday evening at Sanford Stadium.

The Bentley bullpen gave up five runs to the Huskies with St. Cloud scoring twice in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and three more in the eighth inning. They took over for graduate lefty Jared Brooks (Hollis Center, Maine/Cheverus HS) who struck out six and walked five in his five innings of work.

In the sixth, St. Cloud used a walk, a hit by pitch and an intentional walk to load the bases with two outs. Freshman first baseman Ethan Navratil (Albany, Minn.) delivered, with his single to center scoring a pair and giving the Huskies a 4-2 lead.

Two innings later, junior catcher Drew Bulson (St. Cloud, Minn.) broke the game open with his bases-clearing single to center scoring three.

Bentley scored its only runs in the fourth inning with both scoring on a single to left by junior first baseman Eddy Beauregard (Paxton, Mass./Wachusett Reg. HS).

Graduate centerfielder Kyle Halloran (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS) had two of Bentley's four base hits.

St. Cloud State, in addition to the ten steals, was the recipient of 11 walks in the game. The winning pitcher for the 7-4 Huskies was six-foot-11 senior lefty Trevor Koenig (St. Cloud, Minn.), who struck out nine in six innings.

On Saturday, Bentley will take on Minnesota-Crookston at the same location.
