Berardino Named 3rd-Team All-America by D2CCA; Also Recognized by NCBWA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following a standout year for the Bentley University Falcons, first baseman Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) has been voted to the Conference Commissioners Association NCAA Division II All-America baseball third team.

It's the latest honor for the Falcon graduate student, who in recent days has also been recognized as an honorable mention Division II All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and a first-team All-East Region selection by both the D2CCA and the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Junior relief pitcher Brandon Ostiguy (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia HS) also received All-Region honors, with first team recognition from the D2CCA and second team accolades from the ABCA.

Berardino, Bentley's first All-America since Mike Hill was honored by the ABCA in 1996 and 1997, owns the best batting average nationally in Division II at .489. He had 46 hits in 27 games for the Falcons with his stat line including nine doubles, two triples, three home runs, 25 runs and 34 RBI.

In addition to being number one in Division II in batting average, Berardino is fourth nationally in toughest to strike out (4 in 115 plate appearances), tenth in hits per game and 11th in on base percentage (.539).

Berardino, who was a 34th-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2019, finished his collegiate career with a slash line of .333/.409/.467. In 148 career games, he amassed 185 hits, 114 RBI, 102 runs scored and 259 total bases.

Ostiguy allowed only two earned runs in his first eight appearances out of the Bentley bullpen and finished the season with a 3-0 record, a save and a 2.11 ERA. He struck out 27 in 21.1 innings and limited opposing batters to a .177 batting average. With runners on base, he allowed only four hits in 38 at bats.

Bentley finished the 2021 season with a 17-11 record.
