Bentley Places 6 on All-Northeast-10 Baseball Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six members of the Bentley University baseball team, including first-team honorees Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) and Brandon Ostiguy (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia HS), have received All-Conference recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference.

Second-team honorees were graduate pitcher Paul Frisoli (Watertown/Arlington Catholic HS) and junior left fielder Liam Sears (Springfield/Pope Francis HS). Sophomore third baseman Steve Rizzuto (Belmont/Belmont HS) was chosen for the All-Conference third team and was also on the All-Rookie team, along with freshman second baseman Jackson Walonis (Walpole/Walpole HS).

Berardino, an All-Conference honoree for the third time, has had a standout season with his batting average entering Thursday's Northeast-10 divisional semifinal game at Franklin Pierce at exactly .500 (45 of 90). The graduate student was 4-for-4 with five RBI in a 15-13 win over Saint Anselm Tuesday and ranks second nationally in Division II in average, as well as fourth toughest to strike out and 13th in on base percentage.

Berardino, a 2019 Red Sox draft pick, has amassed a .334 average, 184 hits, 100 runs and 112 RBI during his Bentley career.

Ostiguy, a junior righty, has been outstanding out of the bullpen for Bentley this season. He's been in nine games and has a 3-0 record, a save and a 2.11 ERA. He's allowed only 14 hits in 21.1 innings (an opponent batting average of .177) and has struck out 27 batters.

Frisoli, a right-hander, has made six starts and pitched a team-high 38.1 innings. He's 2-0 with a 3.76 ERA and has fanned 37 batters. He allowed only two hits in nine scoreless innings against nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire and two hits in eight innings against Assumption. For his career, Frisoli owns a 12-7 record.

Sears, who appeared in only one game before this season, has been a fixture in left and in the number five slot in Coach Bob DeFelice's batting order. He's second on the team in hitting (.368) and on base percentage (.467), and has 22 RBI and ten multi-hit games.

Rizzuto, the team-leader in two-out RBI (16), has a .326 average while batting third in the Falcon lineup. He's second on the team in RBI (29) and his 31 hits include seven doubles, two triples and a team-high three home runs.

Walonis is the team's fourth .300 hitter, with a .304 average, two homers and 19 RBIs. Defensively at second, he's committed an error in only three of 26 contests.
