Berardino Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week for 2nd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University graduate student Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS) has been named the Baseball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference for the second time in three weeks.

The first baseman/designated hitter remained sizzling hot in seven games last week with a slash line of .577/.581/.885. He had 15 hits in 26 at bats, with 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, two home runs, two doubles, two sacrifice flies and a 1.000 fielding percentage at first base.

Berardino, a 2019 Red Sox draft choice, extended his hitting streak to 20, scored five times in a 17-3 win at No. 11 Southern New Hampshire and had four hits twice and three or more RBI three times. He also eclipsed 100 RBI for his career.

During a four-game series at SNHU, he was 9-for-20 with 10 runs scored and six RBI. He finished the week as the conference's leader in batting (.487), RBI (26), hits (38), doubles (8), sacrifice flies (4) and total bases (56).

Nationally, Berardino ranks fourth among Division II players in batting average, and is also the eighth toughest to strike out.

Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, was graduate right-hander Paul Frisoli (Watertown/Arlington Catholic HS).

In a 1-0 13-inning win at No. 11 Southern  New Hampshire, Frisoli pitched nine shutout innings, allowing only two hits. He struck out four and walked the same number.

For the season, Frisoli is 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA in five starts. He's fifth in Division II in fewest hits per nine innings and has hold opposing hitters to a .139 average.

Bentley, 13-9, is off until a four-game series with Stonehill May 7-8.
