Rizzuto Earns NE10 Rookie of the Week Honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – Following an outstanding week for the Bentley University Falcons, Bentley University sophomore third baseman Steve Rizzuto (Belmont/Belmont HS) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon.

During a 2-2 week, Rizzuto hit .467 (7 of 15) and was involved in eight runs (four scored, four RBI). His week also included a double and a .556 on base percentage. Defensively, he handled ten of 11 chances at third base.

In the nightcap against Franklin Pierce, he was 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a double and three RBI.

Entering today's doubleheader at Saint Anselm, Rizzuto was tied for the team lead in batting with a .409 average. His nine hits in the season's first six games included a pair of doubles and he was also tied for the lead in RBI with seven.

Rizzuto was in six games a year ago before the season was curtailed and had three hits and four RBI in 20 at bats.

The Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll included Bentley graduate first baseman/designated hitter Ryan Berardino (Sudbury/Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS). In a pair of doubleheader splits, the 2019 Red Sox draft pick was 7-for-13 with a slash line of .538/.625/.692 for the Falcons. He had two doubles, two runs scored, three RBI and was on base 10 times in four games. He hit safely in all four games, with three hits in game 2 at Saint Anselm, three RBI in game 2 vs. Franklin Pierce and four times on base (2-for-2, walk, hit by pitch) in a 4-3 win over Franklin Pierce in game 1.
