Troiani & Ethier Receive Sport Excellence Awards from Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University outfielder Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) is the Northeast-10 Conference's Sport Excellence Award winner for baseball, and Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), a rising senior at Bentley, received the same prestigious honor for men's golf. The announcement was made by the conference office Wednesday.

The Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Awards are presented annually to the conference's premier scholar-athlete in each sport. Troiani, a recent graduate, is the first Bentley baseball player to be recognized in the 11-year history of the award, and this is the sixth time a Falcon men's golfer has been honored.

Although Troiani's senior season was curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the standout center fielder received several awards, including the Edward J. Powers Award as Bentley's premier senior scholar-athlete. He was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for the third time and was Bentley's nominee for the NE10 Men's Scholar-Athlete Award.

Troiani's career honors also include first team All-Northeast-10 in 2019, third-team All-Conference in 2018 and consensus Division II All-East last spring. He finished his career with a .320 average, with 148 hits, 104 runs and 64 RBI in 116 games. He played in 14 games this year, hitting .358 with 13 runs scored and 10 RBI in 14 games down in Florida.

A five-time member of the President's List, Troiani graduated with an impressive 3.74 GPA as an economics-finance major.

Ethier also has excelled in the classroom and as an athlete during his first collegiate seasons. He's a three-time All-Northeast-10 honoree, including first team each of the last two years, and was named the NE10 Player of the Year in April. In addition, he was recognized as PING Division II All-East Region for the third straight season after leading the Falcons with a 73.0 stroke average in five fall tournaments.

Ethier, whose 74.45 career average is best in program history, was recently voted to the Academic All-Northeast-10 golf team for the second time and was a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

A corporate finance and accounting major, Ethier finished his junior year with a 3.64 GPA, two appearances on the President's List and four on the Dean's List.
