Troiani Named Northeast-10 Player of the Week for 2nd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – After a week in which he homered five times in three games, Bentley University senior center fielder Max Troiani (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS) has been named the Baseball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference. It was the second time this season he's been recognized.

In three Falcon wins, including two over No. 4 Southern New Hampshire, Troiani had an incredible week that included a 1.769 slugging percentage in addition to the five round trippers. He cleared the fences at least once in each game, and had a three-home run performance, all while leading off an inning, in Friday's 4-3 win at SNHU. His first led off the game, his second tied the game at 3-3 and his third broke the deadlock in the top of the eight.

Overall during the week, he was 7-for-13 with eight RBI, five runs scored and 23 total bases. Troiani became the first Bentley player to homer three times in a game since the switch to wood in 2002.

Troiani, who is hitting a team-best .336, leads the NE10 in slugging (.611), is second in runs scored (35) and is tied for third in home runs (7). His first inning home run at Southern New Hampshire marked the third time this season he's opened the game with one, all coming away from home.

Trioiani, who hit .350 last spring, owns a .320 career batting average.

Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll, was sophomore pitcher Evan Christopulos (Andover/Andover HS). He pitched a complete game four-hitter to lead Bentley to a 5-2 win at Southern New Hampshire Thursday. He allowed only one earned run to the No. 4-ranked Penmen and finished with five strikeouts and no walks. It was his third victory in four decisions this spring.

Bentley, 14-18 overall, has won 14 of its last 22 games and is 8-4 in NE10 Northeast Division play. The Falcons are back at Southern New Hampshire Tuesday when they complete a three-game series with the Penmen.
