Bentley to add varsity women's golf, which will start competing in Fall 2024

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University is adding women's golf as a varsity sport, providing more opportunities for female student-athletes to compete and follow their athletic passion on an intercollegiate level. Women's golf will be the university's 12th varsity athletic program for female student-athletes and 24th varsity program overall.

"We are excited to welcome more talented female-student athletes to proudly wear the Falcon jersey and compete for Bentley," said Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams. "Bentley Athletics is on the rise, and we're looking forward to adding an extremely competitive women's golf program that will continue that momentum on the links."

Bentley Athletics has been ascending the NCAA Division II ranks in recent years. Last year, the Falcons cracked the top 100 nationally in Division II for the Learfield Directors Cup, which ranks colleges across the U.S. for success across all sports in championships organized by the NCAA.

Bentley women's golf will begin competing in the fall of 2024. It will be the seventh women's golf program competing in the Northeast-10. Currently, there are 191 NCAA Division II women's golf programs in the U.S.

"We are thrilled to see Bentley University add women's golf to their department," said Northeast-10 Commissioner Julie Rupert. "This addition will not only benefit the Falcons but will continue the growth trajectory for the NE10 in the sport as we seek to increase sponsorship across the conference. With this

addition, Bentley is providing opportunities for female student-athletes to participate in another NE10 championship sport with access to NCAA postseason play, while receiving top-quality coaching and competitive opportunities."

The addition of women's golf supports the university's Falcons Forward 2030 Strategic Plan, which calls for broadening access to a Bentley education for all learners. For six years in a row, Bentley student-athletes have earned the highest graduation rate in the nation at 99%, according to the NCAA Division II Academic Success Rate. A search for Bentley's first women's head golf coach will begin shortly.

Athletics are an important part of student life at Bentley, providing students opportunities to compete, learn and connect with other students in a healthy, positive environment outside the classroom. More than 950 students compete in athletics at Bentley at the varsity and club levels.
