Williams Elected to NCAA Division II Management Council

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams has been elected to a four-year term as an at-large representative on the NCAA Division II Management Council, effective January 2023.

The Management Council reports directly to the Presidents Council and is charged with recommending administrative policy and regulations that govern the division. The Management Council reviews and acts on recommendations from the Division II committee structure and from Division II representatives to committees with Association-wide functions.

There are 28 members on the council, including one administrator or representative from each of the Division II conferences, two from the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and two at-large positions. The Northeast-10 is also represented by Adelphi University Director of Athletics Danny McCabe.

"This is a tremendous honor to be selected to represent all of Division II on the Management Council," said Williams, who is in his second year as Director of Athletics at Bentley. "I look forward to serving the student-athletes, coaches, administrators and member institutions in this role."

Williams came to Bentley in September 2020 with 27 years of extensive athletic administrative leadership. His prior experience has included serving as Senior Associate Athletics Director at Boston College, Director of Athletics at Kennesaw State University and Associate Athletics Director at both the University of Connecticut and the University of Toledo.

In 2017, Williams was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Football Championship Subdivision Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year Award. He has previously served on the NCAA Division I Council, the NCAA Legislative Committee, the NCAA Football Rules Committee, the NIT Men's Basketball Selection Committee and the Hockey East Executive Committee.

"We are fortunate that Vaughn will lend his leadership strength to the Council as an at-large member," said Julie Ruppert, Commissioner of the Northeast-10. "Division II will benefit from Vaughn's deep and varied professional background as it navigates through the most complex time in intercollegiate athletics history. We are proud that we will have another voice around the table representing the excellence that is the NE10 Conference."
