461 Bentley Student-Athletes Qualify for the NE10 Academic Honor Roll

WALTHAM, Mass. – 461 Bentley University student-athletes, the second highest total in school and conference history, qualified for the spring 2021 Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll by achieving a grade point average of 3.0 or better during the semester.

The 461 honorees accounted for 86 percent of Bentley's student-athletes who competed in NE10 sports, the second highest percentage in the university's history. It trailed only the 87.3 percent achieved during the fall 2020 semester.

This marks the 23rd time in the 24 semesters that the NE10 has been recognizing the Academic Honor Roll (formerly Commissioner's Honor Roll) that Bentley has had the most honorees. It's also the 23rd time in 24 semesters that Bentley's percentage ranked in the conference's top three.

"The achievements of our student-athletes continue to stand out," said Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams. "I can't be more impressed at their accomplishments in the classroom."

The Northeast-10 splits its Academic Honor Roll into three categories: Academic Excellence for those with a 4.0, Academic Distinction for those between 3.50 and 3.99, and Academic Honors for those between 3.00 and 3.49. Twenty-one Falcons received Academic Excellence, a conference-best 257 Academic Distinction and 183 Academic Honors.

Earning Academic Excellence were Jacob Acker (men's soccer), Lindsey Allen (softball), Daniel Cranitch (men's lacrosse), Annie DeForge (women's track and cross country), Ryenne Feeney (women's soccer), Jack Figgins (golf), Marissa Fontaine (women's basketball), Jeremy Glick (men's diving), Rachel Hill (women's swimming), Sydney Hurwitz (women's track and field), Peter Maselli (men's track and field), Kayleigh May (women's lacrosse), Cara McCarthy (women's lacrosse), Katie Meriggioli (women's basketball). Tatiana Naclerio (field hockey), Finn Power (men's track and cross country), Keaton Roarick (men's lacrosse), Kate Schmal (women's lacrosse), Amanda Shoemaker (women's swimming), Emily Sweet (women's swimming) and Ellis Yoder (golf).

Cranitch, Feeney and Fontaine also achieved Academic Excellence during the fall 2020 semester.

Five Bentley teams had 100 percent representation on the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, including all 25 members of the women's soccer team. The others who had all their student-athletes achieve a 3.0 or better were women's basketball, men's cross country, women's swimming and diving and women's tennis.

In addition, women's cross country, field hockey, men's basketball, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, softball, men's track and volleyball all had at least 90 percent on the Academic Honor Roll.
