WALTHAM, Mass. – All-America women's basketball player Jen Gemma (Milton/Fontbonne Academy) and football linebacker Bryan Hardy (Barnstable/Barnstable HS), a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America®,  have been named the Outstanding Senior Athletes at Bentley University.

In addition, hockey standout Max French (West Kelowna, B.C./West Kelowna Warriors) was selected for the Edward J. Powers Scholar Athlete Award as Bentley's premier senior scholar-athlete. He's the second straight hockey player, and third in the last six years, to receive the prestigious award, which is named after the late president of the Boston Garden who was both an alumnus and trustee of Bentley.

Gemma, who was named to multiple All-America teams for the second straight year, finished her career as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the winningest women's basketball program in Division II history. The six-footer totaled 2,151 points as a Falcon and became the only Bentley player to amass over 500 points in three different seasons.

As a senior this past winter, Gemma repeated as Northeast-10 Player of the Year while leading the Falcons to a 26-6 record, the Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division championship and an NCAA tournament berth. With averages of 18.5 points and 8.7 rebounds, she led the team in both those categories for the third straight season.

Gemma was a repeat selection for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II All-America team and also received All-America recognition from Women's Division II Bulletin (first team), HEROSports.com (first team) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (second team).

Hardy, a standout in the classroom as well as on the field for Bentley over the last four years, led Bentley in tackles each of the last three seasons while amassing a school record 332. Last fall, he totaled a conference-leading 121 tackles, ranking 14th nationally among Division II players.

In addition to being selected to the Academic All-America team, Hardy has garnered numerous honors during his senior year, including the Northeast-10 Sport Excellence Scholar-Athlete Award for football, Division II-III All-Star from the New England Football Writers and first-team All-Northeast-10. The Falcon captain was also an Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree for the third time.

In the classroom, Hardy achieved a 3.71 GPA while majoring in marketing.

French, who is working on his Masters in Accountancy after graduating Summa Cum Laude a year ago, was a two-time first-team All-Atlantic Hockey honoree.  He led the Falcons in scoring with 17 goals and 22 assists, including two in a win over Army West Point at Fenway Park, for 39 points. French scored eight times on the power play and  three times in a playoff win over Sacred Heart.

Among Division I players who competed this past winter, French ranked fourth in career goals (67) and fifth in points (143) with his career totals also including 22 power play goals and seven game-winners.  This past season, he ranked fourth in Atlantic Hockey in scoring.

French, who has achieved a GPA over 3.8, has made three appearances on the AHA All-Atlantic team and will add to that total when this year's team is announced this summer.
