Varsell Earns 1st-Team Capital One Academic All-America® Honors for 3rd Time; Dooley & Higgins Also Honored

Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), the most decorated student-athlete in Bentley University women’s track history, and Bentley cross country standout Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) have been selected for the 2014 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Coach Kevin Curtin’s team was also represented on the Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America team in men’s track and cross country with recent graduate Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) receiving third-team recognition.

Two-time first-team Capital One Academic All-America® Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) took a step towards earning the honor for a third time as she, along with four teammates, were selected for the 2014 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 track and cross country team.

Just 25 months after running her first-ever cross country race, Bentley University junior Tara Dooley (Lee, Mass./Lee HS) finished fourth in the 2013 NCAA Division II Championships Saturday morning at the Plante Ferry Sports Complex. Dooley became Bentley’s first-ever cross country All-America and was joined on that select list about 40 seconds later by teammate Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) when the grad student placed 39th in 21:48.4.
