Dooley Named NE-10 Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for 4th Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the fourth time this season and the seventh time in her career, Bentley University junior Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) has been recognized  as the Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Dooley earned her latest award after placing fourth in Saturday's NCAA Division II Championships out in Spokane, Wash., a performance that earned her a spot on the USTFCCCA Division II All-America team.  It was the highest finish by an East Region woman since Nicole Plante of UMass-Lowell was second seven years ago.

Dooley was 16th halfway through the race before covering the final 3,000 in a meet-best 10:25.1 for a final clocking of 21:07.3.

Grad student Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), who joined Dooley as Bentley's first two women's cross country All-Americas, was named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll after finishing 39th in the meet in 21:48.4. The All-America award was the sixth of her career with the other five coming in track (three outdoors, two indoors).

The effort of Dooley and Varsell helped Bentley finish first among East Region teams and 23rd overall.
