Bentley Cross Country Runners Earn Honors for Academics

Four members of the Bentley University cross country teams were recently named to the 2010 Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference team. Among those earning the distinction were seniors Sean Reagan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus HS) and Lauren Lesniak (Dracut/Dracut HS). Also selected were sophomores John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS).
Curtin Named Track & Cross Country Coach

Kevin Curtin, head coach of the New Balance Boston Track Club since 2003, has been named the men’s and women’s track and cross country coach at Bentley University, athletics director Bob DeFelice announced.

With a couple of the top five hampered by injury, the Bentley University women’s cross country team finished fourth of 28 in the NCAA Division II East Regional at Franklin Park, missing out on advancing to the nationals by only eight points in Ed Lyons’ swan song as Falcon head coach.

Freshman Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) and senior Lauren Lesniak (Dracut, Mass./Dracut HS) finished second and third, respectively, to lead the Bentley University womens cross country team to the championship of the fifth annual Saint Rose Golden Knights Joust Friday afternoon at the Crossings of Colonie.
Six Former Bentley Standouts Set for Induction into Bentley Athletic Hall of Fame

Six former Bentley University standouts, including two have been previously enshrined in the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame, will be inducted into the Bentley University Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 24. The Class of 2010 consists of Kim (Cummings) Singh 96 (womens basketball), Julie Doherty 02 (womens cross country and track), Gary Mello 01 (mens cross country and track), Mike Rymsha 96 (football), Kevin Van Dam 02 (mens basketball) and Scott Yavarow 02 (mens soccer and lacrosse).
Bentley Women Place 3rd Among Division II Teams at New Englands

Led by freshman Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS), the Bentley University womens cross country team placed third among Division II teams Saturday during the New England Championships at Franklin Park. Overall, the Falcons were 30th in a field of 47.

Bentleys Athletic Success Carries Extends into Classroom

The 2009-10 academic year saw Bentley University capture Northeast-10 Conference championships in four sports, be represented in the NCAA Division II championships by teams or athletes in six sports, and finish in the top three in the Northeast-10 Presidents Cup standings for the 24th straight year. But Bentleys success doesnt stop there. It carried over into the classroom where the Falcons also distinguished themselves.
