Bentley Wins Doubles Point, but Drops 6-1 Decision to Stonehill

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley won the doubles point in Wednesday's match against Stonehill, but the Skyhawks rallied in singles for a 6-1 victory in a Northeast-10 matchup.

The Falcons won two of the three doubles matches, No. 2 and No. 3, to take the doubles point.

In No. 2, the duo of team captains Makena Romagnano (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) and Alessa Matuty (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) defeated Stonehill's Cristina Valencia and Ayonna Stuppard by a score of 7-5.

Valencia finished last season ranked No. 3 in the East Region in doubles and No. 4 in singles.

In No. 3, it was the team of junior Zoe Chin (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) and sophomore Remi LeSage (Sarasota, Fla./IMG) that got the better of Stonehill's team of Lily Peter and Marissa Such, 6-4.

Stonehill though rallied with a sweep of the singles matches.

The Skyhawks improved to 5-2 both overall and in the NE10 with the win, while Bentley dropped to 2-4.

Bentley's next match will be on Thursday when they host Southern New Hampshire at 3:00 pm. The team will celebrate Senior Day, with seniors Matuty and Alyssa Cook (New Castle, N.H./Portsmouth) to be honored.
