Bentley Falls to AIC 4-1; Hamblet Scores for Bentley

Waltham, Mass. – Visiting AIC improved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-1 victory over the Bentley University hockey team on Friday night. Senior Brendan Hamblet (Hopkinton, Mass.) scored a power play goal for the Falcons.

Bentley outshot AIC 28-27 on the night, but fell to the rival Yellow Jackets in the first meeting between the two programs since January, earlier this year.

Hamblet's power play goal with 13:00 minutes remaining in the game got the Falcons to within 3-1. The goal was started by defenseman Luke Orysiuk (Edmonton, Alberta) on the point finding sophomore forward Joe Winkelmann (St. Louis, Mo.) down low. Winkelmann then fed a quick pass to Hamblet across the crease to beat AIC goalie Stefano Durante for the goal.

Bentley though couldn't close that two goal margin during the rest of the 3rd period, and an empty net goal by AIC's Chris Dodero with 1:34 left sealed the game.

AIC got its first goal from left wing Luka Maver 5:52 in the opening period, after he finished off a rebound in front of the net. The Yellow Jackets then added to their lead at the 16:14 mark of the 1st when left wing Aaron Grounds scored on a second chance opportunity after an initial save.

The only goal of the 2nd period went to AIC, off the stick of defenseman Sam Miller at the 9:35 mark.

Bentley's junior goalie Fraser Kirk (Burlington, Ontario) stopped all 14 shots he faced in 28 minutes of action.

The Falcons will try to gain a series split with a quick turnaround, with Saturday's game at Springfield's Mass Mutual Center at 1:05 pm.
