Bentley Competes in NCAA Division II Pre-Nationals

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Bentley University cross country teams spent Saturday on the other side of the country, competing in the NCAA Division II Pre-Nationals at the Chambers Creek Regional Park where the field included a number of nationally-ranked programs.

The top finishers for the Bentley women were sophomores Caitlin Burmester (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) and Brooke Neri (Westbrook, Conn./Westbrook HS). Burmester was 167th overall with a 6,000-meter time of 24:41.90 and Neri 198th in 25:49.80.

For the men, the first Falcons to finish were senior Brice Tolan (Abington, Mass./Abington HS) and graduate student Sirish Modhagala (North Arlington, N.J./North Arlington HS). Over the 8,000-meter course, Tolan was 168th in 27.14.00 and Modhagala 180th in 27:35.8.

In the team standings, the Falcon men were 26th of 27 and the women 28th of 29. The team champions, in both races, was Colorado School of Mines by a wide margin.

Individual champions were Naomi Bailey (Alaska-Fairbanks) in 20:46.1 and Dillon Powell (Colorado Mines) in 23:19.8.

Bentley's next meet is the Northeast-10 Championships at St. Michael's College Nov. 6.
